1) When should I visit a Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist?

The role of a Psychologist is to help out individuals with mental illnesses. Ask yourself “have I been feeling very off lately?”, “I don’t feel like eating”, “I do not feel like meeting my friends like I used to”, “I am not being able to concentrate”, “I have become forgetful”, “I am getting worried about small things” etc. It is always advisable to ask for help professionally. A psychologist can help you to understand the cause and guide you through difficult changes of emotion and behaviour.

2) Should I visit a Psychiatrist or a Psychologist?

Psychiatrist usually prescribe medicines, whereas Clinical Psychologist practices Psychotherapy. Mental Health professionals work as a team. You may visit anyone and as per your requirement and you will be referred to either if necessary. We work to find out what is best suited for you.

3) Who is a registered / licensed Clinical Psychologist?

In India to practice as a Clinical Psychologist one must have a registration under Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), which can be acquired by completing M.Phil. degree in Clinical Psychology under any RCI recognised institute.

4) Does Thought Craft provide reports for Psychological tests?

Thought Craft focuses on therapy and counselling. It is an intervention based clinic. If testing is required you will be referred to an appropriate place.

5) How many sessions are required?

The number of sessions required varies depending on the problem. It depends on the client’s commitment and regularity. The amount of time required will be discussed once you meet your therapist.

6) How to book an appointment?

If you want to book an appointment you can call, leave a message or an email (address given on the web page). If your call is not answered, leave a message with your name. You will be given an appointment date and time. You can also send your date and time preference, if it is suitable it can be taken into consideration.

7) What is the difference between a counsellor and a Clinical Psychologist?

A counsellor deals with various problems and helps an individual to solve them strategically. Clinical psychologist practices evidence based psychotherapy and is trained to deal with clinically diagnosed disorder namely OCD, Depression, Panic Disorder, Phobia, Eating Disorder etc.

8) Is whatever I discuss in the session confidential?

Whatever is discussed in the session between the client and the therapist remains confidential.

9) How long is each session? Can they be extended?

A session typically last for 50 minutes. However in special cases the psychologist and the client might agree to have two sessions back to back (double sessions). Double sessions are always prepaid.

10) What is the cost of per session?

The cost of per session is Rs. 800. Prepayment is necessary if it is a double session.

11) What do I do if I want to cancel my appointment?

If you want to cancel your appointment you have to let your therapist know before 24 hours, otherwise you will be charged for it in your next session.
